To most people the truth about when Jimi Hendrix got his first guitar and what types of guitars he played throughout his career is somewhat of a mystery. Although, he was unarguably the greatest guitar player ever, and with his fertile musical mind, perhaps the greatest composer of our generation or ever for that matter. No disrespect intended, putting Jimi in company with Bach, Beethoven and the likes. True Genius.

The path that will be described here is what I would consider the most accurate, after a lot of research and a little voodoo-magic. Realistically though, boiling down the mixture may leave some people to disagree with me, and I welcome the input.

The evidence and consistencies suggest that his first guitar was a cheap acoustic his dad gave to him, as early as eleven years old. The story goes as such, that even at a young age of six years, his school teacher mentioned to his dad, Jimi obsesses over having a guitar so much that it may be contributing to some mental health issues. Not to discount todays teachers, but that was a very perceptive statement at that time.

His first electric guitar was bought from Myers Music in Seattle in 1959. Professed to be a white, single pickup Supro Ozark. The next axe that Hendrix played was a red Danelectro single pickup Silvertone, nicknamed Betty Jean. In'62, while doing some gigs with the King Casuals in Tennessee, he traded his Danelectro for an Epiphone Wilshire, which had dual pickups and a glued on mahogany neck with a solid mahogany body, as opposed to the bolt on Fender Stratocaster guitar necks.

In 1964, Jimi would play rhythm guitar for the Isley Brothers. During this nine month gig, he finally got his first Fender guitar, a blond'59 Duo-Sonic. He next played with Little Richard in '65, and briefly played a Fender Jazzmaster. However, he switched back to a Dou-Sonic when he played with Curtis Knight and the Squires. Even though Jimi later returned to the Jazzmaster.

A point of interest is that none of the gigs he had with the bands mentioned above lasted very long, because Jimi's guitar work stole the show. His unbelievable guitar abilities were noticed by all immediately, which took the focus away from the musical-icons he worked for.

Jimi purchased his first Strat from Manny's Music in New York in '66 in the summer. Early on he would use a variety of CBS Strats with rosewood fretboards. While he was staying in Greenwich Village in late '66 and '67 he narrowed down his choices to a '60's era Reverse Fender Stratocasterblack or white Fender Strats using maple fretboards. Which, most likely is the reason the Fender Stratocaster is the most important guitar in the history of guitars and music.

From then on he played Fender Stratocasters with large headstocks. One of his many unusual playing techniques was to play a right handed guitar backwards, or in the left handed position, obviously because Jimi was left handed. In order to do that one must reverse the strings and (bone) nut so the low E was still on the top. My understanding was that he preferred the controls on the top of the guitar. Apparently he could work his magic easier with the voluminous amount of tricks he performed, partly by messing with the volume control knob. Jimi was not much on tone controls or guitar setup. Mostly Jimi spent the bulk of time modifying his tremolo to do things like lower the pitch more than usual and create trem sounds otherwise unheard of.

Naturally Jim Hendrix had purchased and played a tremendous assortment of guitars in his lifetime. During my fact finding mission, this is the list of the other guitars Jimi most likely owned and played; a Gibson ES-330, a Gibson Firebird, a Mosrite electric resonator guitar, a Guild 12 string acoustic, a Black Widow Spider acoustic, several Rickenbacker's including a bass Rick, a double neck Mosrite, a Hagstrom 8 string bass(it was the on played on Spanish Castle Magic from the Axis Bold As Love album', a '67 Gibson Flying V, a '67 Gretsch Corvette, a lefty Guild Starfire Deluxe, a Hofner electric, a '55 Gibson Les Paul, a Gibson Dove acoustic, a Martin acoustic, a '68 Gibson SG Custom and a black lefty Flying V. Wow!

It is not surprising that Jimi owned so many guitars. The depth of knowledge and pure unadulterated playing style was not limited to just electric guitars and Stratocasters. His unique abilities allowed him to play any guitar with the deep soul jarring vibes that were all his. It would be unrealistic to think he was limited to one style of guitar. Or for that matter, one type of music. Jimi's interest in music extended to the world of classical music as well.

Lost to many, is the fact that Jimi was one of the best rhythm guitarists ever, most folk know him for his lead and solo guitar work, he was also an adept bass player too. And last, he was a master at the acoustic guitar, using chords in a manner unknown to mankind at that time. This combo of skills and abilities produced the man who will be forever the patron saint of rock guitar.

Sebagai contoh standar tuning instrumen musik adalah nada A3 = 440 Hz (A3 adalah nada A pada octave ke-3).

Prinsip 'pitch correction' adalah pertama-tama menganalisa pitch dari suatu gelombang suara yang didapat dengan

mengukur berapa lama waktu pengulangan gelombang suara tersebut atau disebut 'pitch detection / pitch tracking'.

Kemudian berdasarkan suatu tangganada yang ditentukan oleh user, setiap pitch yang tidak sama frekwensinya akan

disesuaikan dengan frekwensi pada tangganada tersebut. Misalnya Anda menyanyikan nada A pada frekwensi 390 Hz

yang artinya suara Anda terdengar fals. Fungsi 'pitch correction' ini menyesuaikannya menjadi 440 Hz sehingga suara

tersebut tidak terdengar fals. Kerja dari 'pitch correction' ini harus sangat cepat dan akurat agar Anda tidak merasakan

adanya noise tambahan yang mengganggu. Karena fungsi 'pitch correction' bekerja berdasarkan pengukuran jumlah

getaran per detik maka apabila ada suara yang mempunyai gelombang suara yang tidak periodik spt suara gempa

bumi, fungsi 'pitch correction' ini tidak akan berfungsi dengan baik. Tetapi untuk gelombang suara yang periodik spt

Story

AN_na awal mulai terbentuk kar’na kami mempunyai idealis musik yang sama, seperti Ari Lasso, Ungu, Silverchair, musik progresif. Dengan kesamaan itu, kami berobsesi untuk menyatukan basic musik kami dalam satu band yaitu AN_na. Nama band ini kami ambil dari nama Vokalis kami sendiri ( Aan Permana ) yang di singkat menjadi AN_na. Dengan formasi awal Aan ( Vokal ), Arya ( Gitar ), Galih ( Gitar ), Rino Meva ( Bass ), ilend (drum ), Dodi Dafmen ( keyboard ). Dengan formasi ini, kami bermusik di jalur Pop Rock komersil. Karena kesibukan tiap personil, Formasi awal ini hanya bertahan 5 bulan dengan pengunduran diri dari Rino ( Bass ) kembali ke MEVA dan Dodi ( keyboard ) di rekrut oleh Daftar Menu ( R ‘n B ). Kemudian AN_na coba tetap road to stage dengan 4 personil lama di Bantu Dreda ( add-bassis ). Karena kembalinya Galih ( Gitaris ) ke dalam musik top 40 café, maka AN_na tersisa 3 personil dan 1 add-bass.

Akhirnya, 1 tahun di umur AN_na, kami merekrut Dreda ( add-bass ) sebagai personil tetap AN_na. Sampai saat ini, AN_na tetap berjalan dengan formasi 4 personil yaitu, Aan ( Vokal ), Arya ( Gitar ), Dreda ( Bass ), ilend

( Drum ).

Penyebaran AIDS di Indonesia Tercepat di Asia

Indonesia merupakan negara dengan penyebaran human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) dan acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) tercepat di Asia. Metode penyebaran virus mematikan itu di Indonesia tidak hanya melalui hubungan seksual, tapi juga melalui penggunaan jarum suntik narkotika yang terus meningkat di kalangan remaja.

Utusan dan Penasihat Khusus Sekretaris Jenderal PBB untuk masalah HIV/AIDS di Asia Pasifik Nafis Sadik mengatakan, penyebaran HIV di Indonesia dapat ditekan saat jumlah orang yang terinfeksi masih sedikit. "Berdasarkan pengalaman di negara Asia lainnya, jika situasi bertambah buruk akan semakin sulit dikontrol," kata Nafis di Jakarta, Jumat (8/2).

Menurut dia, diperlukan kerja sama dengan beberapa pihak, termasuk pemuka agama, untuk melakukan gerakan mencegah penyebaran HIV di Indonesia. Dia mencontohkan, para pemimpin agama di Bangadesh, Pakistan, dan negara Asia lain juga memberikan dukungan untuk program pencegahan AIDS. "Mereka juga setuju untuk penggunaan kondom bagi kaum muda," kata utusan khusus PBB kelahiran Pakistan itu.

Nafis menambahkan, program penanggulangan dan pencegahan AIDS harus didukung oleh semua negara yang rawan penyebaran HIV. Beberapa negara yang sudah menyepakati program tersebut antara lain Kenya, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Kamboja, danVietnam.

Menurut Nafis, pemerintah harus ketat menjalankan program agresif untuk mencegah penyebaran AIDS. Hal itu harus dilakukan sebagai upaya menghapus stigma dan diskriminasi terhadap pengidap AIDS. "Di Sinegal terdapat kebijakan yang lebih difokuskan pada PSK (pekerja seks komersial). Hal itu bisa juga dilakukan di negara lain."

Nafsiah Mboi, Sekretaris Komis Penanggulan AIDS (KPA) Nasional, menyatakan sampai akhir September 2007 Departemen Kesehatan melaporkan penambahan pasien AIDS secara kumulatif dari 2.190 orang menjadi 10.384 orang. "Informasi ini masih mengkonfirmasi tingginya laju pertambahan jumlah infeksi baru, di mana Indonesia sekarang tercatat sebagai negara dengan epidemi AIDS tercepat di Asia," katanya.

Menurut data KPA, sejak tahun 2000 epidemi HIV sudah mencapai tahap terkonsentrasi pada beberapa subpopulasi berisiko tinggi, yaitu pengguna narkotika suntik, wanita pekerja seks komersial, dan waria. Sedangkan di Provinsi Papua, penyebaran HIV umumnya melalui hubungan seksual berisiko pada masyarakat umum.

Berdasarkan data PBB, per 20 November 2007 tingkat penyebaran HIV di dunia cenderung stabil. Pada tahun 2007 diperkirakan 33,2 juta juta orang terinfeksi virus berbahaya itu. "Walaupun jumlah penderita baru telah menurun, 5.700 orang meninggal akibat HIV setiap hari," ujarnya

Menurut Nafsiah, remaja berusia 15-24 tahun merupakan populasi masyarakat paling berisiko terinfeksi HIV. Berdasarkan perkiraan jumlah populasi rawan terinfeksi HIV tahun 2006, 52% korban infeksi HIV akibat penggunaan narkotika suntik, 45% PSK, dan 31% terjadi pada waria dan homo seksual. "Di tahun 2007 jumlah korban infeksi baru HIV terbesar pada kelompok usia 15-19 tahun."

Selama berkunjung di Indonesia, Nafis Sadik berencana bertemu dengan Duta AIDS Indonesia Ani Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, Ketua KPA Aburizal Bakrie, Menteri Kesehatan Siti Fadila Supari, Menteri Pemberdayaan Perempuan Meutia Hatta, dan anggota Dewan Badan Koordinasi Keluarga Berencana Nasional Sugiri Syarif. hellogoodbye carrier

Early career (2001–2003)

Hellogoodbye started in 2001 as a recording project by Huntington Beach High School students Forrest Kline and Erik Fingar. With the interest only to entertain friends and woo crushes, Kline and friend Jesse Kurvink recorded some songs on Forrest's home computer. The first hellogoodbye song ever written was Kurvink's "Bonnie Taylor Shakedown (2001)" which later appeared on their debut Self-Titled EP. With Kline's interest in web and graphic design, the unofficial group got a working title, a website, and posted mp3's on MP3.com. As interest in the music grew, Kline and Kurvink recruited friends and chanced upon some opening slots at local shows.

In the first 2 years the group played local shows in Orange County at venues like Chain Reaction (Anaheim), The Hub (Fullerton), and Koo's Cafe (Santa Ana), made a few trips to play in Arizona, and did one mini-tour through AZ, NM, and TX with the band Peachcake. During this time they kept busy burning demos, screen printing tee-shirts and promoting via their website before signing to Drive-Thru Records in 2003.

The lineup went through a few changes before signing to Drive-Thru. Parker Case (who was in orange county's "Astoria" at the time, but would later form the now defunct JamisonParker and is currently a member of Say Anything) started out playing drums but was quickly replaced by Aaron Flora (occasionally of the band Throwdown and who currently plays in Northern) (member 2001-2003). Paul White (who currently plays with the band "The Deepsea Goes") (member 2001-2002) was the original bassist, but quit and was soon replaced by Marcus Cole (member 2002-2007). after signing to Drive-Thru Records, drummer Aaron Flora left to go to college and was replaced by current drummer Chris Profeta (formerly of A Cutthroat Kiss). Most Recently, bassist Marcus Cole left the band to be replaced by long time buddy Travis Head.

Hellogoodbye EP (2004–2006)

After Signing in 2003, Hellogoodbye released a Self-Titled EP on August 17, 2004, which has sold over 400k copies to date. The band began touring vigorously in support of this release in the U.S. and abroad. During the "Sounds of Change Tour" with An Angle, Socratic and Steel Train, Hellogoodbye flipped and totalled their van and trailer after Cole dozed off behind the wheel while driving through Pennsylvania on October 22, 2004. None of the band's members were injured. While participating in 2005's South by Southwest, a music festival in Austin, Texas, the band appeared on several episodes of MTV's The Real World: Austin. The cast of the TV series produced a video documentary about three bands on the festival's line-up (the other two being Halifax and Enon), including interviews and live footage. The appearance gave a boost to the band's popularity.

November 22, 2005, Hellogoodbye released a DVD titled OMG HGB DVD ROTFL. It featured two hours of concert and touring footage, as well as music videos to the five songs off their debut EP. Following the release, the group was also featured on the third and fourth installment of the Drive-Thru Records DVD series. In December 2005, the band won MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout, competing as Los Angeles' representative against New York City and Chicago finalists Pete Miser and Tub Ring. The prize included $10,000 cash, a set of Gibson equipment and an opening slot on an upcoming major U.S. tour.

Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! (2006–present)

After two years of touring Hellogoodbye released its first full length record, Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, on August 8, 2006 via Drive-Thru Records. In 2006, Hellogoodbye appeared on the Vans Warped Tour, did a full headlining tour with Reggie and The Full Effect & Ozma, visited the UK (with the Plain White Tees) and Japan as well as much of Europe. In 2007, they continued touring, doing a headlining tour with Boys Like Girls, a tour of Australia with Australian band The Lucksmiths, played the main stage of The Bamboozle in New Jersey, headlined the side stage at Give It a Name 2007, played the Reading and Leeds Festivals as well as European festivals Pukklelpop, Rock en Sein, and more. On the MySpace Music Tour (co-headlining with Say Anything) and in the January 2007 issue of Alternative Press magazine the group confirmed their new record will come out in 2008.

In January 2007, the single "Here (In Your Arms)" saw a resurgence on Top 40 radio and entered the Billboard Hot 100 (peaking at #14) and the Pop 100 (peaking at #9).^[1] The single is now certified Platinum. In the same month, they also appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and Last Call with Carson Daly. Their song "Oh, It is Love" became the theme song on MTV's Engaged and Underage. On March 13, 2007, they released an iTunes exclusive three-song EP, which features three different remixes of the song "All of Your Love".

The band is currently writing and recording a new record at their home studio in Long Beach, CA which is scheduled to come out sometime this year.
